Hi, I'm a blind person and the game frame isn't appearing with NVDA screen reader, so I haven't been able to try this game.

(1 edit)

Ahoy, that was a fun first attempt at an audiogame! I'm a blind person and I was able to escape second try. The strange thing is there were points where it sounded like the zombies were behind me but they were in front of me. Good first concept though. I've also tried anarky mart and whilst the game does read with my screen reader, if I type, for instance, help, it doesn't give me instructions on how to play.

Hi, what language is this game programmed in?Reason I ask is I wonder if it'll be possible to add accessibility for screen reader users, and audio cues for the games. As it stands, even with the downloadable version, it I don't know if I can begin the game with the keyboard, and with OCR it says start or exit but I don't know if using the arrow keys is moving me or not.

Hi, I'm getting a bunch of dll errors.

---------------------------

TextBattleAdventure.exe - System Error

---------------------------

The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140D.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

---------------------------

OK

---------------------------

I think there might be others as well.

I'm also not really sure how to get started in the game. I've selected the adventurer class but not too sure what I should do first. If I press enter on colony it tells me info about it, but not too sure how to start exploring.

OK, for people asking about android: it's not as easy. We don't know what engine this game is programmed in, and that could actually have a factor. Aple's and Google's tools are quite different.

Hi, I'm a blind person, and so far, self voicing is working (press v when launching the game) however, there's a big bug. It keeps on reading the previous screen, so I've selected standard mode, and it's now reading the two mode descriptions constantly, followed by what it's meant to be reading, describing the world and such. I'm wondering, is there a chance this could be looked into?

Will this ever be updated?

Wow. That was amazing. I'm totally blind, and I hope that this adventure will be completed. The only mechanic I struggled with, was switching targets. I wasn't really sure which target I was on, and I'm kind of wondering if there could be a sound to confirm who you've switched to as I don't know if the fade out mechanic worked or not. Absolutely fantastic though!

A nice little game. Felt really bad about giving sound design 1 star as the current version has no sounds, so it's not applicable. Creativity is 3 stars as it uses a basic escape trope, which is perfectly fine. Well done, good effort, looking forward to seeing where this goes.

This was great. I don't quite get what's happening, so I'm wondering about a tutorial track that explains the clicks and some advice about slowing down and such, so a sort of driving school.

Wow. I've given you a really cool rating because of the new version. My question now is, where would I submit a journal response? Very very nice update and also amazing that you have included both versions for people to try, because I could see myself coming back to the writing prompt version later and trying to add in some of my own ideas such as other random systems and cards as part of that story. But for the mechanic version, I shall stick to dice roles and prompts only.

that was absolutely brilliant. Will this have a post jam version? Am wondering if the character could provide some stories between runs. Are we going to destinations that give ammoe next run? That give more food, etc, until eventually there's an evac point?

I'm totally blind, and I don't know how to get an ending. I kept inding trees but wasn't sure what to do.

Oh my goodness! I need to give a heads up this is going to be a very long comment!

This, was, brilliant! The interface was easy to use, the references were great.

Some suggestions for future levels either for you, or Zoe, perhaps both alternating again!

Hot chocolate

Warm cookies with various toppings chocolate, sinimon maybe?

Then for even bigger expansions:

Following up on customers where you don't have the order. You could get coins for successful orders and then buy recipes in, so for the person who wanted that decaf she could come back later and you could surprise her!

Customers commenting on how their order is, if you got it perfect, if it's a bit overheated but if you try again and get it right next time they might like you, or some might storm out or give less or such.

So you could get some achievements for that.

Whilst I think this is really cool, I'm totally blind and I got confused on other difficulties other than easy. The sonar pings seemed to keep on going, or I'd do a ping in the right lane but then move to the midlde lane only to die almost instantly. It's a good try for a first attempt and I'm sure this can be improved and expanded upon.

Hi, I can't get this game to work with NVDA on windows. There is no embedded frame for NVDA to focus on, so I can't play it. The intro started for me, however.

Nice little project. I got grade A on the first two, then grade D on the last two. It would be cool if there's some audio, for instance as you hold, a sort of sound queue to tell how near you are to the end so you know how long the hold will last as well.

I enjoyed this. Will there eventually be more than one crystal? It's a great start! I'll definitely give it another go, as I forgot to use the audio description a few times so didn't know what I was picking up haha. But it's adorable!

One of the things I'm wondering, is how to reset data from scratch so I can try the tutorial again if it came down to it? It's quite a lot of info to remember. Also how can I learn what sound is what? It's a great game so far though, I'm just not sure what types of ports I can cell waste at.

Hi, if you're on windows, there is a completely fee screen reader you can try called NVDA. It works with a lot of the games in this jam, reading the menus directly!

Are the capsules represented by different sound effects, or text to speech? There are totally blind gamers involved with this jam. If you look at, say, Ladybud Role, there are different coloured dice but the dice will say, blue dice and describe what it does, for screen reader users.

Whilst I understand die or retry, as a blind person, there needs to be some more info, perhaps some different footsteps at the very least. I was literally stumbling around in the dark with n idea what to do next, and so I've given your agmeplay 2 stars. Whilst the idea is to figure things out, as a totall blind person, where audio is my main focus, I really think having a few 8-bit footstep sounds would help with the level as there could be some different sounds on the square.s There doesn't necessarily have to be sounds near the hazard, as long as I remember OK there's six fwoopy footsteps west then two scuffy footsteps south then 1 footstep easy makes me die, then I have to remember to retread my steps next time. Great first effort though!

I was able to get the game to work by turning off NVDA completely once the voice started. As such, I've now successfully rated. It's a nice little game, and I think the beebweep sound is also cool if perhaps a little too loud. The little story at the end was nice too, as was the song.

I think that's correct.

So to explain it literally:

The first space bar, with your animal sound, is you starting the round.

The voice wil announce a time, let's use 20 seconds for an example.

At the first tick, I believe that's 1 second.

The 4th tick is 4 seconds.

The fifth tick onwards is silent, but is 5, 6, 7, etc. You must use the tick as a counter, and after the 4th tick, i.e: 4 seconds, your brain must do the rest. At, say, 20 seconds, you must press your button during this last second, but must also be the last person to press the button during this second. The actual idea behind this, I think, would eventually be able to get a group of players who are so good that it would come down to literal milliseconds as to who got last.

Wow, I absolutely loved this. I don't tink it was too verbose, as I have my screen reader going quite fast. Perhaps in the future there could be options to make things less verbose for those who would like that though. I did not find the information overwhelming, and I enjoyed the 8-bit sound design.

I enjoyed it. Do you think there will be more? I'm glad that the voice acting was still in, but would definitely be interested in what The Agency does next, after all, The Ghost is still out there.

That was great, but hold on! On my second run I ejected the creature first time but still got fined? That's a bit off haha! Great first effort and I hope you continue development of this, if any. REally liked it.

OK, I know this is going to sound cliche, but this is absolutely incredible. Definitely one of, if not the most accessible visual novel on here I've seen, although I do have limited visual novel experience. I like how logical everything seems and it's absolutely got me wanting to play more. Do I need to go through your previous novel first to enjoy the rest of this one? I will definitely be checking for future updates.

I'm not even sure how to move tiles, sadly. I tried pressing the move tile button (2), moved right, pressed enter to swap, but I don't really know if it did. Do you have to do the same thing twice?

That was incredible. The only thing that would help, besides the cut content, is to either be able to listen to the soundtrack, or in the case of the record player, learn the names of the songs so they could be looked up. I'd love to hear these in full and it'd give a fun external thing to do. I don't know what you're planning next, but are we going to get to fly the ship or is that too expansive, will it be extra crew members instead?

Just rated the game, I still haven't beaten it, but I absolutely love it. wish there was an n/a for sound design as I ended up having to give that 1 star when there of course wouldn't really be any in a text game, unless you added some later.

I wasn't even able to find the first enemy, but the concept is there. I couldn't seem to fire any shots even if the enemy was 1 degree off any direction.

Oh this was great, and I loved how you included the extra voice actors in the credits as a tease for what's to come! All worked first time. Looking forward to the full version!

Hi, so what's happening is it's a game of calculation and reaction. You can tell if you've made a sound when you press the button and hear your animal. So you'd get the first four seconds which are four ticks. You then have to calculate the rest of the ticks in your brain, and then press the button when you think the time has elapsed!

Hi, so what you have to do is listen for the tickng, and when it stops, you then have to use your brain to calculate the reaction time. So if it says a button in 20 seconds, that's how long it'll be going for, and the aim is to be the last player. So when you hear other animal sounds, that's the bots submitting their time. So you have to count with your brain after the 4 ticks, which I believe are the first 4 seconds, and then go from there.

Wow this was really suspenseful! Well done. I got it to work with NVDA by clicking run game and finding a clickable frame, then entered focus mode.

Hi, this game doesn't have a clickable frame, nor does The Under. I am affraid I can't rate this game.

That would be cool! What you could do is eventually after a few levels, have the game surprise us, so the copy sound makes the beat sound, but when we copy successfully, it plays a different instrument. So that's where some more rocky stuff could come in.

Nice little game. We've had stuff like this before in the blind gaming community, but this is a good first effort, and I like how you can use any key to play the game. I could really see this expanding in future with more tunes or beats.
